Meet Arline
Once upon a time in the Kingdom of ICQ, for the lack of something to do I searched the membership files. I thought what ever I was looking for, nothing would ever come up to my satisfaction. I filled out a quick form and sat around and waited, knowing this was going to be a futile thing. Well, Lo and Behold, much to my pleasant surprise I received an answer in my ICQ task bar icon. I quickly read the profile. It was of a female in Connecticut [not too far, as the crow flies from West Hartford]. At first I couldn't believe what I was reading. How could a female have so many talents?? Writing song lyrics, making up beautiful poetry, painting in oils and water colors , and pen and ink drawings. I cant impress upon whoever reads this, that I saw so much natural talent all in one person.... We chatted, or I could say "sparred," feeling each other out. In all my time that I have spent chatting on the web, I have never had an easier time relating to a stranger. I won't go into the personal things we talked about, but in a short time I learned that she has an insight into life like nobody I have ever chatted with. We have very little in common, but we do have a great deal in common. If I am confusing you, I will explain. For all intents and purposes, we are senior citizens; we both like the music of the 40's; we both appreciate art, and how we enjoy it. We don't agree on everything, but we don't have any big or small arguments over our likes and dislikes. Her oil paintings are better than average; in fact she has won prizes. Her poetry just freaks me out completely. It's eerie how she has such a grasp on life. She says none of her poems have anything to do with her real life, and I believe her. You will have to read and see for yourself. Here are a few titles, any one is a treasure.... "My Name Is Computer," "A Devoted Relationship," "A Stormy Night's Reflections," "Slink Slunk," "You Smile At The Camera." "The Hard Hat And The Lady" she wrote for me because I didn't think she could write one about me...
The word charming is bandied about too much I think, but this lady is as charming a person as I have ever met, and deserves that praise. The point of this story is, it is possible to meet some one on the INTERNET that you have "nothing in common with" and find you do share the same things even though you always thought that you were one of a kind. I cant remember who said "East is East, and West is West, but never the twain shall meet." Don't you believe that...... Here's to a long and lasting friendship, Arline, it was a lucky day in the Land of ICQ that we met.
